launching-valve control valve, are mechanically linked
to cams on the cam control unit. Figure 4-66 includes
a schematic of the cam-operated pilot valves.
As the shafts of the cam control unit are rotated
during the sequence of operation of the catapult, the
pistons of the pilot valves are moved up and clown to
control the flow of hydraulic fluid as required for
the operation of the main valves in the catapult
C-13 CONTROL CONSOLE
The major difference between the C-1 3 console and
the C-7/C- 11 console is the method of control. Whereas
the C-7/C- 11 console uses a manually operated
handcrank and cam-operated pilot valves, the C-13
console is completely electrical with the exception of
the steam controls. All phases in the sequence of
operations are controlled either by push buttons or
automatically by the action of relays and switches.
