Mk 19 Mod 0 Impulse Cartridge The Mk 19 Mod 0 impulse cartridge (fig. 8-28) is a backup cartridge. It is normally used for the emergency jettison/release of stores loaded on an aircraft during flight. This cartridge is fired after an attempt has been made to fire the primary cartridges. MISCELLANEOUS CARTRIDGES Miscellaneous cartridges include cable cutters, explosive bolts, and fire extinguishers. Mk 97 Mod 0 Impulse Cartridge The Mk 97 Mod 0 impulse cartridge (fig. 8-29) is used as a power source to actuate a helicopter cable cutter to cut a chain/cable in an emergency. Mk 1 Mod 3 Impulse Cartridge The Mk 1 Mod 3 impulse cartridge (fig. 8-30) is used primarily to actuate a refueling hose guillotine in an emergency.
