the basic equipments of the SH-60 series helicopter.
Both types of helicopters have various models with
different configurations. In this chapter, no specific
model is discussed.
SH-3 Series Helicopter Sonobuoy Launcher
The launcher used in the SH-3 series helicopter
provides a means for free-fall launching of
sonobuoys. The system consists of a control panel
and 12 launcher tubes (size A), which are
incorporated as an integral part of the airframe. Each
tube contains a retention gate that can be electrically
or manually released to launch the individual
sonobuoy. A tube-loaded microswitch operates a
panel light when the selected tube is loaded.
SH-60 Series Helicopter Sonobuoy Launcher
The SH-60 series sonobuoy launcher is designed
to pneumatically launch up to 25 sonobuoys. The
buoys exit from the launcher on the left-hand side of
the aircraft. The system consists of a launcher
assembly, a distributor valve, a high-pressure air
bottle, and an electrical control unit (ECU). The air
