Always use the specified oil forthe part being lubricated. Before using an oilcan, alwayscheck to make sure the oil can contains the properlubricant.HAND.—Thismethod of lubrication is generallyused for packing wheel bearings. It involves usinggrease in the palm of your hand to pack the bearings.BRUSH.–This method of lubrication is used whenit is necessary to cover a large area, or for coating tracksor guides with a lubricant.Lubrication FittingsThere are several different types of grease fittings.They are the hydraulic (Zerk fitting), the buttonhead pin,and flush type of fittings. See figure 3-14. The two mostcommonly used fittings in naval aviation are thehydraulic- and flush-type fittings. These fittings arefound on many parts of the aircraft.HYDRAULIC FITTINGS.—This type protrudesfrom the surface into which it is screwed, and it has arounded end that the mating nozzle of the grease gungrips.
