explanation of the terms and codes used in the SCIR system is given in the following paragraphs.
Controlling custodian. The controlling custodian is responsible for fleet distribution and management of assets.
Reporting custodian. The reporting custodian is the activity having primary custody of the aircraft. The reporting custodian is responsible for maintenance and readiness reporting on the aircraft.
Equipment Master Roster (E - 00). The Equipment Master Roster (E-00) is a serialized listing, by reporting custodian, of all the assets on hand that require SCIR and/or utilization reporting. The Equipment Master Roster is updated and published on a monthly basis by the DSF. For a complete description of the report, you should refer to the utilization reports discussed in this chapter. The E-00 is kept current by maintenance control personnel.
Inventory codes. Inventory codes define the reporting requirements and current status of the inventory reporting system. Table 4-1 lists the inventory status codes.
"IN" Material Condition Reporting Status (MCRS) (inventory code A). The term IN MCRS means that an aircraft is in the inventory system and that it requires SCIR documentation. IN MCRS is the normal status of an aircraft.
