The "A" card has been designed to provide all of the detailed information required by the audit report. All aircraft in the reporting custody of the unit at 2400 hours on the reporting date (31 August, 30 November, 28/29 February, and 31 May) must be included on the report. Aircraft received after or transferred before the reporting date will be excluded. The following data is required for each aircraft listed:
A. Permanent unit code. Precede by zeros, as necessary, to report a full six-digit number.
B. Date of report. Enter the as of date of the report, 31 August, 30 November, 28/29 February or 31 May, as applicable. Do not report the preparation or actual submission date in this block (for example, 31 August 1991 as 083 191).
C. Bureau number. Precede by zeros, as necessary, to report a full six-digit number.
D. Latest XRAY action date. For each aircraft listed, report the date of action of the most recent XRAY (vice location change) that was dated on or prior to the as of date of the report. The action date may quite properly involve a past month or year. If, at the time of the audit report, it is determined that the current situation of the aircraft has not been reported via XRAY, submit the updating XRAY and use this action date on the audit report.
E. Status code. Report the complete three- character status code of the aircraft.
F. Model designation. Include the complete type/model/series designation. Place the designation in the cell so as to make use of the preprinted - (for example, place AV-8A in the space so that the - between the V and 8 makes use of the - provided).
G. Period number. Precede with a zero, if necessary, to report a three-digit number representing the current period number of the aircraft being reported.
H. Period end date. Express the month as a number between 01 (January) and 12 (December). Indicate the year using the last two digits of the year in which the period is predicted to end or actual PED for aircraft with terminated periods (for example, November 1991 as 1191).
I. Extension number. If the aircraft is on extension, precede the number with a zero, if necessary, to achieve a two-digit number. If the aircraft is not on extension, leave blank.
J. Flying hours in period. Report those hours to the nearest whole hour, and precede the number with zeros so that a six-digit number is reported. Do not report tenths of hours. Flying hours in period revert to zero only upon each instance of the starting of a new period.
K. Flying hours in life. Report, to the nearest whole hour, all flight time since manufacture. Precede the number reported with zeros to achieve a six-digit number,
