Work Package Manual Arrangement. To
provide quick comprehension for the user, information
is broken down by major functional elements, and
further subdivided by individually sequenced tasks.
The division of functional elements include
system/equipment description and principles of
operation, testing and troubleshooting, system
maintenance, wiring data/schematics and diagrams,
and an IPB. Each of these elements is further broken
down systematically into smaller units, depending
upon the system complexity, integration, and logistic
support analysis (fig. 2-3).

Consolidation of the criteria above results in a
technical manual concept known as a functionally
assembled document. These documents are arranged
in the general order of work flow and grouped into
small units or work packages (WPs) covering
individual tasks. The WPs are called self-supporting
units of information, and contain all the information
required for a technician to perform a specific task.
Work Package Numbering. The individual WP
has a five-digit code number that appears in the upper
right comer of the page. The WP number consists of
two blocks of three and two digits, respectively. The
first three digits identify the initial manual WPs (001
